Employment Focus

Sid Humphries Manages the Employment Team at St Loye's.

"Welcome to the Employment Team our aim is to offer help, advice and guidance, helping you to find suitable employment."

The Employment Team makes regular contact throughout the time you are training. In the early days of your training it might be that they just contact you to find out how your training is progressing.

They will work with you to try and find work experience to compliment your training. Or a work placement that we hope will lead to employment. Once they have agreed your work experience/placement; they will arrange to complete a health and safety visit with your chosen company. Then you and your tutor will agree what you would like to achieve whilst working, they will maintain contact with you whilst you are working.

Towards the end of your training they work closely with you; the aim is to work together. They will review your training and discuss preparing you for employment. They advise you on how to identify possible vacancies and companies that might lead to employment. They ask you to come up with your ‘top ten’ employment leads.

They help and advise you on how to apply for jobs. Support you in any way that will assist you into employment. You may also be eligible to a job start grant and possibly some financial support. To qualify for financial support you need to have a job to go to, this can apply even if you are in the middle of training, or starting work within six months of leaving, this needs to be for 16 hours or more.

We also keep in touch to support you with your continued job searching once you have left St Loye’s Foundation for up to six months.
