Volunteering by Individuals: You can give of yourself to help in so many ways; your time, making introductions, influencing others, raising money.
Volunteering is good for you too. You can make new friends, have some fun, learn new skills, and know you are doing something really worthwhile and Volunteering expenses can sometimes be paid so it just costs you some effort and time but is so worthwhile.
We are happy to invite you to our offices and discuss possibilities without any obligation on either side. Just think how much time you have available, and please tell us of any skills from home, work or hobbies that you have that may be of use.
Let’s think of some ways you could volunteer….
1. You could help out in our offices with admin duties, many admin jobs are routine but cost us time and money which you could save us.
E.g. answering the phone, photo-copying, dealing with post, the filing, the stationery cupboard! or perhaps some computer work.
2. You could help as a buddy to our trainees. Help with study skills, revising, listening, etc.
3. You could support our tutors; help them get ready for each student – each of our students work independently and at different stages and speeds. You could prepare handouts, etc.
4. We have various notice-boards – could you get artistic with them?
5. Would you like to help with sports or other activities? We have a football team that may like some supporters, etc.
6. Do you have a hobby or craft to share with some of our residential students one evening? It could include cooking!
7. Are you handy in the garden? We have a land-based skills and Horticulture department and work from our own organic nursery.
8. We hold events and open days and have stands at exhibitions. Some of these events can be very hard for our marketing team and we would welcome extra pairs of hands.
9. Could you hold a fund-raising event? Perhaps arrange something with friends, through work, family or other contacts? We have an A-Z list of fund-raising ideas you could choose from.
10. Could you fund-raise by yourself? We have a list of 50 ways to do simple things and raise some money.
11. What about offering to be a trustee? We constantly change our trustees and try to keep a mix of skills between them, what could you offer?
12. Are you a talker? Could you be an ambassador for us, perhaps even doing some public speaking to local groups – that would really help?
13. We are a membership organisation. Could you help us with recruiting new members, keeping records or send them the regular information they receive from us?
14. Who do you know? We all have contacts and if you know somebody that could help St Loye’s would you introduce us?
15. Would you set up and run a Friends group for us in the local area?
16. Could you sell Christmas cards, or handmade cards or marketing items for us? Could you set up a small cabinet shop in each of our offices and sell items or take orders?
There are so many ways you could help and we are sure you can think of others. If you can help us please just get in touch – we would appreciate it, we would appreciate you and all your efforts.
Come and join our team where we are understanding and supportive and where we change people’s lives for the better.
Come and be part of us, part of St Loye’s.
