St Loye’s Cathedral Service
St Loye’s Day Service Exeter Cathedral
Saturday 1st December 2012 – Celebrating Exeter based charity; St Loye’s Foundation
Patron: Her Majesty The Queen
St Loye’s Foundation is delighted to be hosting an evening service at Exeter Cathedral on Saturday 1st December 2012. Significantly the one hour service will take place on St Loye’s Day, commemorating our patron saint of metal workers and craftsmen.
The service will be a celebration of the charity’s 75th Anniversary, our Patron’s Diamond Jubilee and our paralympians hopeful success! St Loye’s was founded in 1937 by Dame Georgiana Buller, her vision was to train injured ex-service veterans in a craft to enable them to find a job and financially support themselves and their families.
Today, we are a national charity based in Exeter, continuing to provide tailored training and support for people with disabilities, learning difficulties and long term health conditions. Through the different projects and programmes on offer, we build upon people’s strengths and ambitions to help them reach their maximum potential, irrespective of their natural abilities or setbacks in life. In particular, our ‘Transitions’ project which supports ex-service veterans on the road back to ‘Civvy Street’ echoes our founders beliefs.
Intended invited guests would include the city’s Lord and Lady Mayor, who will enjoy Christmas carols led by the Cathedral boy choristers and a performance by East Devon’s only all-female barbershop choir, Renaissance Chorus. Our Paralympian Ambassadors from Team Bath will be guest speakers.
Prior to the service there will be a VIP Reception for 100 guests in The Chapter House of Exeter Cathedral and we invite our sponsors to join us for Champagne and canapés.
A commemorative St Loye’s Day programme/ Order of Service will be produced for the congregation and press to take away and our sponsors are invited to include a complimentary advertisement if they wish.
